Post LASIK Instructions

Patient Instructions after LASIK

Medications
1. Omnipred 1% or Lotemax - One drop, four times per day today and the next 4 days, then three times on the 5th day, two times on the 6th day, and one last time on the 7th day. This is a steroid, anti-inflammatory drop. Always use this drop exactly as prescribed.

2. Vigamox or Zymar - One drop, four times per day for 5-7 days. This is an antibiotic drop to help prevent infection.

3. Voltaren or Acular or Xibrom - (only needed for burning and soreness) one drop, up to three times per day for the first 24 hours.

After the procedure, we will instill the first set of drops. Instill the drops again at lunch, dinner and bedtime, and the following morning before your appointment. The order you use the drops is not important.

4. Artificial Tears - Use Systane, Refresh Plus or Blink (in the vials) at least every waking hour between the other drops for the first 24 hours. Use the preservative free drops until gone and then use artificial tears (Systane, Refresh, Genteal, Theratears, Blink) in the bottles between 4-8 times per day for the first month, and 1-4 times per day for the next three months. This will help speed your recovery and will relieve some foreign body sensations.

5. Tylenol or Advil - Only if needed for discomfort.
