One Week Post Operative Instructions
After Cataract Surgery 1. Vigamox - You may stop this drop.
2. Econopred and Nevanac - Beginning today, taper as follows:- 3 times per day for one week
- 2 times per day for the following week
- 1 time per day for the third week
- then stop the drops
Note: If your Nevanec runs out, you do not have to refill it unless the doctor has given you a prescription in special cases. The Econopred should not run out. 1. You may discontinue sleeping with the shield
2. You may resume activities, except swimming and hot tubs for 1 more week
3. You may resume eye make up if you wish
4. Take precautions to prevent anything from striking your eye
5. Sunglasses are recommended for outdoors
6. We will change your prescription in about one month. Please bring any old glasses with you at that appointment.
7. In the meantime, you may wear your current glasses if they help. Even though the correction is not optimal for the new eye, there will be no harm.
8. Some foreign body sensation is a common side effect that may fade over a few months. Use lubricants (Systane, Refresh, Theratears, or Genteal) as 2-6 times per day as needed.
9. Some peripheral shadows or distortions are normal and usually fade over the next few months. If you have any increase in redness, or pain, or if your vision is decreasing, call me immediately 203-869-3082
