Meet Fairfield County Laser Vision & Greenwich Ophthalmology Associates

For over 40 years, Greenwich Ophthalmology Associates, PC, has been devoted to quality eye care delivered in the most professional manner possible. Our ophthalmologists specialize in a variety of fields, and our facilities deliver university level care in a community-based practice.

We are committed to laser vision correction with a full-time refractive surgery specialist, Dr. Suresh Mandava, to provide the most up-to-date care. Dr. Mandava was fellowship-trained in cornea and refractive surgery at one of the first centers for LASIK and specializes in handling difficult cases and complications.

Fairfield County Laser Vision is a state-of-the art facility conveniently located in Stamford, Connecticut and operated by the doctors of Greenwich Ophthalmology Associates. Dr. Suresh Mandava is the medical and surgical director. As physicians, rather than business executives, we are dedicated first to quality of patient care. Each patient can rest assured that he or she receives the finest care possible, with the best equipment available, in a personalized and unhurried manner.

In other laser centers, time and budget constraints may lead to inferior quality of care. Patients who choose these centers often meets the refractive surgeon only briefly before surgery. The refractive surgeon may not be fellowship-trained in cornea and refractive surgery, or he may not be fellowship-trained at all. A technician may perform the consultation and decide whether the patient is a good candidate. Another ophthalmologist or optometrist may acquire the pre-operative measurements for the laser treatment. One or more doctors may deliver the post-operative care. These doctors are never as qualified as a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon. If there are any problems, these doctors need to consult with a refractive surgeon, or refer the problem to a cornea specialist with experience in LASIK, such as Dr. Mandava. Often, these laser centers are a corporate business, with business executives making decisions on cost-cutting, time-budgeting, volume-driving, and other patient unfriendly business practices.

We have a more medical philosophy to vision correction. We believe continuity of care is very important in ensuring quality. In our office, Dr. Mandava meets and educates patients during seminars and consultations and performs every pre-operative examination. Since each individual has different goals, needs, and expectations, Dr. Mandava spends time getting to know each patient to ensure that laser vision correction is in the patient's best interest. All pre-operative measurements are obtained by Dr. Mandava and repeated to ensure accuracy. Dr. Mandava performs the procedures in our own laser center and handles all the post-operative care himself. This ensures that any unusual irregularities are diagnosed and treated promptly and with expertise. Post-operative visits with Dr. Mandava also allow him to convey his experience from thousands of patients as to what to expect during the recovery period.

Attention to detail continues in our choice of the finest quality technical equipment to perform the tests, measurements, and the flap needed for LASIK. Most importantly, our staff and technicians are well trained in laser vision correction and in making sure that each patient has a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
